In the name of Allah, The Entirely Beneficent, The Totally Merciful : Bismillah hir Rahman hir Rahim
The concept of Tabarru' (voluntary donation) removes gharar because participants donate part of their contribution to help others in need, rather than entering a commutative contract with uncertain payout. This is rooted in mutual cooperation. (See Quran 5:2)
Allah commands: “And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression.” This is the bedrock of Takaful's spirit of solidarity.
Enrolling every earning member maximizes mutual support within the family and the larger community, strengthening the collective pool for those in need.
Takaful operates on Shariah principles: mutual help (Quran 5:2), charity (Tabarru’), and risk-sharing, unlike conventional insurance which involves prohibited elements.
In Takaful, any surplus after claims and expenses belongs to the participants (after operator fees in some models), reflecting justice and mutual benefit. (Hadith: “The believers are like one body...” – Sahih Muslim)
The operator often acts as Mudharib (manager) using participant funds in Shariah-compliant investments. Profits are shared according to agreed ratios.
This Hadith emphasizes collective empathy and support — the very essence of Takaful where participants help bear one another’s burdens.
Part of the contribution goes to the mutual donation pool (Tabarru') for helping the needy, and the rest is invested on behalf of participants.
